Abandoned property is turned over to the State from many sources including banks, credit unions, corporations, utilities, insurance companies, governmental entities and retailers and employers throughout the United States.

Each state that lists unclaimed money or unclaimed property, has forms online for you to complete to get what is owed to you. If anyone asks for money from you to help you fill out a claim, don't give it to them. It's way too easy to do it yourself. There are plenty of companies that check this database, locate individuals that are owed money and charge a fee to do what I am showing you to do for free. You simply click on the state you are interested in and follow their instructions to check to see if you have unclaimed money. If you do have unclaimed money, then you can complete the form that is provided by the State. The State will process your request and send you a check. It's that simple.
